PRACTICE ATTENDANCE
POLICIES
The following
guidlines allow coaches and swimmers to gain the most from every
practice session. The coaching staff feels strongly about
getting maximum return on the time spent in practice and asks that
all swimmers and parents understand these
policies.
- Each Training
Group has recommended attendance expectations. Those who
faithfully fulfill workout expectations will have the best results,
so it is in your best interest to come to practice the recommended
weekly amounts. The staff encourages younger swimmers to have
outside interests, but expects that their commitment and focus will
increase as they mature.
- For the
Swimmers’ protection, please note that coaches are not
required to be at the pool earlier than 15 minutes before a
practice session begins. Parents should walk younger swimmers
to the pool or locker room rather than simply drop them off at the
door of the school.
- Practice starts,
in the water, promptly at the specified time. Swimmers
should arrive at the pool with sufficient time to get changed,
assemble all the gear they will need, stretch and get the pool
ready for practice. Tardiness is discouraged as swimmers who
arrive late miss warm-up, which can lead to injury or poor
performance, and their arrival often disrupts the practice of those
who showed up on time. Coaches reserve the right to refuse
pool entry to any swimmer who is late for any reason.
- Swimmers should
bring all required equipment to the deck at the start of each
practice.
- Practice ends
when the workout is completed. This means that occasionally,
for a variety of reasons, practice may run slightly later than
originally scheduled. Generally speaking, though, practices
have a set duration and swimmers getting out late is only caused by
them getting in late. If a swimmer needs to leave early, the
Coach needs to be notified before practice
begins.
