A PARENT - RUN ORGANIZATION

NSAC is a parent-run organization that exists because of adult volunteers who are willing to donate their time to a worthy cause.  Volunteer support is vital to our success and economic competitiveness, and is truly at the heart of the North Suburban Aquatic Club.  Our parents get involved and volunteer for the organization in a number of different ways.  Here are just a few ways you could get involved.

Run for the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of our Head Coach and ten volunteer positions:  President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Personnel Coordinator, Registrar, Safety Officer, Board Emeritus and two Members-At-Large.  Term lengths vary based on position, with approximately half the volunteer positions are voted upon every year at our annual Spring Banquet.  For more information on the responsibilities and term lengths of the various positions, please see our club's bylaws.

Board meetings are held once a month, usually on the second Monday of every month, and are open to all NSAC members.  Meeting times and places are announced in the newsletter and on the website.  We encourage any and all members to attend board meetings, share your views and get involved.

If you are interested in running for the board, please contact the President-Elect.

Serve on a Standing Committee

Select committees that are important to the success of the club have openings on them for non-board members.  For more information on these committees, see our club handbook or speak with any NSAC Board Member.

Become a Program Representative

The Lead Coach of each of our programs chooses one or two willing parents with swimmers enrolled in that program to serve as his or her Program Representative.  Program Reps' responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Helping distribution of information in on-deck mailboxes
    • Make phone calls in the event that a practice is cancelled or change at the last minute
    • Helping keep the on-deck bulletin board up to date
    • Communicating pertinent information to other parents verbally
    • Any other assistance the Lead Program Coach requires

This position requires that the Program Rep and the Lead Coach stay in close contact, and is an important link in the chain of communication.  If you are interested in becoming a Program Representative, please speak with you Lead Program Coach.

Serve as Team Clothing and Equipment Coordinator

Generally one person is needed to act as the liason between our vendors and NSAC.  This person works with the Head Coach to choose and arrange for the sale/distribution of Team Clothing, suits and other equipment needed by our swimmers.  If you are interested in serving as the Team Clothing and Equipment Coordinator, please contact either the Head Coach or any Board Member.

Volunteer at one of our Hosted Meets

NSAC typically hosts two meets every year.  The first usually falls in the winter, and the second in the spring or summer.  To run these meets effectively, we rely on our members to volunteer and serve the various positions necessary for a successful meet.  Some positions needed include:

    • Head Timer / Timers
    • Computer Operator
    • Awards Coordinator / Awards Assistant
    • Concessions Coordinator / Assistants
    • Officials (certification required)
    • Announcer
    • Program Sales

We try and encourage all our families to volunteer at least some of their time during these meets.  Stay tuned to the website and the newsletters for more information on future hosted meets.
